Coal is an important part of west virginia and the country, people just don't realize that and if you take away coal mining from west virginia and kentucky then there economy will fail because thats what there economy is. Im an enigineer and ...
Im an enigineer and I have seen just about every type of mine you can imagine. I love my job and all the miners and men I work with are amazing people. Everytime I hear someone complain about the mines I ask them if they like to go home and have electricity because thats where most of use get out power from. Coal and Natural gas are here to stay as the main power alternatives at least for the rest of our lifetimes. Its an amazing employment opportunity? with amazing benefits.

I went to the coal ...
I went to the coal mines out of high school with my father.? My relationship with him grew so much because I realized what it really takes to get up everyday and go underground and mine coal for 12-14 hours a day to provide for your children and loved ones. Don't forget about the boys down in the mines!

oh hell ya, those ...
oh hell ya, those union mines are f**kn great. The atmosphere isn't even bad down there. In fact sometimes it's damn? cold in the winter with those bigass fans blowing all that air in. In fact they just opened up a new portal in southern PA not to long ago. It's not even that backbreaking work like it used to be. I can think of a number of jobs that you'd bust your ass doing, but it's also not a job where you can laze around either. Your ass is expected to get the job done.

I've been to WV coal mining country. It's far from poverty stricken. I live in MO, we're far more poorer than coal mining country, and we are a bunch of farmers raising cattle, corn,? and soy beans.

That same mentality ...
That same mentality can be applied to many other types of industry as well.? Not just coal. No supply = no product to be in demand = no jobs producing said product = no income. It is then that people who want to work will go out and find another job.

I worked many years in the mines you say no dust dodo.Ask that guy in the shuttle car behind the miner or the miner operator .I have ran everything in a mine and there? is no getting away from the dust.
